In the next weeks we will be posting a series of articles looking at the positive effects of massage. There are many good ones, which is great news, and while you might know some already, others might surprise you. Let’s get right into it with part 1 then: the application and effects of deep tissue massage.
Here at Gay Love Spirit we teach deep tissue massage, where the physical effects are greatest, and include:
- Reduction of pain
- Less tension and cramping of the musculature
- Loosening of hardened fasciae (Fasciae are layers of connective tissue surrounding muscles, organs, bones, blood vessels etc.)
- Improving mobility
- Improvement of the local blood circulation in certain areas (i.e. hands, feet..)
- Reduction of stress
- Reduction of depressive moods
- Improvement and reconstruction of injured supporting tissue
- Relief for anxiety disorders
- The relief of joint problems, for example an improvement in arthritis or other chronic joint inflammation
- Possible treatment of growing tissue and hardened scar tissue
- Improvement for general circulatory weaknesses
The many sides of this technique and its applications are ground breaking, but as with all massage practices, there are also counter-indicators: deep tissue massage is sometimes not suitable for older people, or people who are sensitive to powerful massage techniques; also those who suffer from inflammatory processes or hereditary soft tissue diseases, or even tumors, should be of course touched differently. Therefore, a small clarifying preliminary talk should always be carried out before starting. We can always perform a modified, more gentle form, slowly and carefully approaching the right intensity for your needs.
